KITCHEN COORDINATOR


16 hours per week

£9.50 per hour Job summary We are excited to announce the launch of our Community Café here at The Bridge Homelessness to Hope!


The Community Café will be the focal point of The Hub and the perfect space for our guests (service users) to enjoy a hot drink and nutritious meal, lovingly prepared by our fantastic team of staff and volunteers, whilst socialising in a warm, safe and relaxing environment.


Our Community Café will offer all the trappings of a regular city centre café as well as offering a safe space for support workers to meet with their clients.


To make sure our Café runs as efficiently as possible, we are looking for a Kitchen Coordinator. Ideally we are looking for someone who has an interest in food, catering or hospitality, and would like to work within a community organisation setting.


Duties and Responsibilities


The Kitchen Coordinator will:

  • Deliver good quality, nutritious meals to both guests and customers visiting the Community Café

  • Take a lead on planning meals, batch cooking and ensuring existing non-perishable food donations in the storeroom are regularly used

  • Make creative use of the food donations and deliveries from Fareshare and other contributors, particularly perishable goods

  • Be responsible for monitoring food supplies and ensure food is used in a timely manner to keep food wastage to a minimum

  • Research and experiment with making new and exciting recipes for the Community Café

  • Maintain a high standard of cleanliness in the kitchen - in line with Food Safety and Hygiene regulations

  • Complete daily, weekly and monthly HACCP worksheets e.g., food temperatures checks, recording allergens and documenting any issues that arise in the kitchen

  • Complete daily, weekly and monthly kitchen cleaning rotas

  • Practice good Food Safety and Hygiene standards when preparing and cooking food

  • Maintain regularly communication with the Hub Coordinator - ensure that any issues in the kitchen are expressed in a timely manner

  • Monitor volunteers throughout the sessions - make sure that they abide by the health and safety regulations in the kitchen

  • Support volunteers/guest volunteers with food preparation, serving guests, maintaining the cleanliness of the kitchen
