Mentor Project Lead

Line Manager: Centre Manager

Salary: £24,450-£28,350 (dependant on experience) for 37.5 hours per week

Fixed-term contract to 31/12/25

Main Purpose

The Lighthouse Project is our mentoring project funded by the Church Urban Fund. It aims to provide light, direction and hope into the lives of the individuals we mentor over a period of at least six months.


The project focuses on mentees who have experienced homelessness or may be at risk of experiencing homelessness. 

This non-judgemental, professional relationship increases mentees’ confidence, reduces social isolation, improves mental and physical health and provides access to practical help. 

You will work alongside the Mentor Coordinator to ensure the smooth running of the project, creating and managing positive relationships between volunteer mentors and mentees. 

You will be working in the office alongside a dedicated team who are committed to making a positive difference in their community. 

A crucial aspect of this role involves evolving it to achieve financial sustainability, aiming for cost neutrality in the future. The objective is to establish the mentoring project as self-sufficient over time.

  • Management of staff. You will provide line management to the Mentor Coordinator, actively supporting their growth and development. 

  • Advancement of the Lighthouse Project. You will ensure The Bridge reaches the targeted aims and outcomes required to secure funding, whilst identifying opportunities to develop and grow the project, including taking responsibility for moving the project towards cost-neutrality and self-sufficiency. You will work to raise awareness of the project with external services to increase referrals and support. 

  • Mentee Referral, Approval and Matching Process. You will oversee and support the management of the referral and assessment process of mentees to The Lighthouse Project, guiding them through the process and ensuring their suitability for the programme in line with our policies and procedures. Once an assessment has been approved you will work in partnership with the Mentor Coordinator to match mentees with suitable mentors.

  • Communication with Mentees, Mentors and Referrers. You will be responsible for communication with and between mentees, mentors and referrers to ensure relationships are managed effectively. This may include managing and troubleshooting sensitive situations and relationships between mentors and mentees to a successful resolution.

  • Mentor Support. You will oversee and support the Mentor Coordinator who will provide mentors with practical support and be their first point of contact relating to any issues with relationships and the mentoring role. You will signpost mentors to additional or alternative support where required. You will identify training needs and create training opportunities for Mentors.

  • Record Keeping and Evaluation. You will support in the accurate recording of information entered onto our CRM system, ensuring it is done in a timely manner and use this data to monitor, evaluate and report on the impact of the project for funders.

  • Policies and Procedures. You will work in-line with The Bridge’s policies and procedures at all times, taking a pro-active approach to safeguarding.

  • Personal Development. You will take an active approach to personal development, finding and taking opportunities to develop relevant knowledge and skills to the role and sector.

  • Support the Wider Operations of the Charity. Where necessary, you will undertake any other reasonable duties to ensure and support the day-to-day operations of the charity.

  • Saturday Working. As part of your duties, you will be required to work occasionally on a Saturday from 8:30 till 1:30, alternating with other members of the staff team as required.
