The Sri Sathya Sai Centres of Leicester organised a free Eye check clinic for guests (service users) at The Bridge Homelessness to Hope.
On Monday 5th June, a team of five Optometrists, three dispensing opticians, eight general volunteers and the team at The Bridge helped to plan and execute a free eye clinic at The Bridge on Melton Street, Leicester.
The eye clinic, which ran between 9:30am to 2:30pm managed to check the eyes of 30 guests, of which 24 required new spectacles to aid their vision.
The guests who required spectacles were given a choice of frames to choose from and the frames were then taken away for the prescription lenses to be fitted. The team will return in a few weeks to fit the frames and make any minor adjustments needed.

The eye checks and spectacles were all provided free of charge and the team of eye care professionals (mostly from Specsavers) and general volunteers from The Bridge all gave their time to run the clinic.
"People experiencing homelessness face huge barriers accessing health care and often are more in need of eye care than the general population. So these types of clinics are so very important to help this group of people in our community who need this help the most."
