Scouts from across Leicestershire sleep out overnight at the King Power Stadium to raise £1,950 for The Bridge Homelessness to Hope.

A total of 68 Scouts and 11 leaders - representing groups from Broughton Astley, Claybrook & Ullesthorpe, Gilmorton, Huncote & Croft, Kilworth, Leire & Dunton, and Lutterworth - took part in the Scouts Sleep Out in March 2026. The event was delivered in partnership with The Bridge Homelessness to Hope, with the groups spending the night at the home of Leicester City.

The evening began with an exclusive behind-the-scenes tour of the King Power Stadium, offering Scouts a unique glimpse into one of the city’s most iconic venues. Anna Iliffe from The Bridge Homelessness to Hope also delivered a powerful presentation highlighting the realities of homelessness and the challenges faced by those without secure accommodation.

The Scouts then took part in a supervised sleep out within the West Stand concourse, constructing makeshift shelters to better understand the harsh conditions experienced by those sleeping rough.

Leo, 13 who took part said:

The homeless sleepover helped me to understand how devastating it must feel to become homeless and how helpless it must feel. The Bridge allows people with all sorts of things like receiving post so they can get jobs to help them out of being homeless. Sleeping outside in the cold was worth it to raise money and understand how homeless people feel.”

David Fawcett, Chief Executive at The Bridge Homelessness to Hope, said:

“We would like to thank all of the Scouts and their leaders who participated in the Scout Sleep Out at the King Power. The evening presented an opportunity for these young people to not only support the charity and our guests by raising vital funds, but also helped by increasing their understanding of this important social issue.”
