From Friday 1st December, The Bridge Homelessness to Hope's Day Centre will be open for an extra two hours until 4.30pm.
The Bridge's Day Centre, which provides a safe place for the people who are experiencing homelessness are seeing the need for their services increase, year upon year, with an average 70 people accessing their services every day.
This is due to the impact of the ‘cost of living' crisis, an increase in people with either the right to remain in the country with no recourse to public funds, and the limited capacity for social housing in the United Kingdom.
During these additional opening hours, The Bridge will continue to provide hot drinks and food and support their guests. Guests will also still have access to their washer and dryer services, hot showers and the computers.
The later opening times will provide a vital lifeline during the colder winter months to those who are experiencing homelessness in Leicester. Massive thank you to Department for Culture, Media and Sport and The National Lottery Community Fund for making this possible!
The Government’s Community Organisations Cost of Living Fund is being delivered by The National Lottery Community Fund, the largest community funder in the UK. Grants will support charities and community organisations in England at the frontline of dealing with the increase in the cost-of-living.
