Night of soul raises over £1,200 for The Bridge

Local soul band, The Pirates of Soul recently brought their soul music show to Leicestershire to raise funds for The Bridge Homelessness to Hope.

The 10-piece band were originally formed in the 1990s and re-formed in 2023. After a year of planning, they organised a charity fundraiser as their first return gig, playing their high energy tribute to the Blues Brothers, The Commitments and more classic soul and R&B music.

Although the tickets were free, the generosity of people attending on the night meant that £1,222 in donations were received.

“We were proud to support The Bridge Homelessness to Hope. We’ve all known people who’ve been sofa surfing. The wider homeless situation is clearly worsening so it’s a good time to get involved and make people more aware.”

Tim Hawkins, founder member of The Pirates of Soul.
