A coffee van with a difference has set up home in Jubilee Square next to the city’s Christmas ice rink.
‘Eric’ started out as a caravan trailer, which was formerly used by Eric’s Ice Cream – a well known Leicester company which had vans around the city and a hut at Bradgate Park.
Now converted into a coffee van, Eric is being used by Leicester charity The Bridge, with all proceeds going to support the homelessness services the charity offers.
The Bridge already has a converted milk float, called Ernie, which is also used as a coffee van.
Those visiting Eric in Jubilee Square will find a wide range of drinks available, from regular latte and cappuccino, to Christmas specials such as winter spice, eggnog and gingerbread lattes. You can also enjoy a hot chocolate – with a white chocolate variety available.
Vegans are well catered for, with a selection of delicious treats from Chocoholic_Leic, and there are vegan hot chocolates and chai lattes.
Eric will be in Jubilee Square until January 6, 2019.
Prices start at £2 for a coffee, £2.50 for cappuccino, latte or hot chocolate (regular or white ), and it is an extra 50p for a festive syrup.
The funds go to a range of services offered at the charity – from paying the building rates, to art therapy sessions and towards feeding the guests.
At least £1 per drink goes to The Bridge, which equates to one meal for a homeless person or rough sleeper.
In the warmer months, Eric will be used to serve milkshakes and ice creams.
Unfortunately, Eric has a small leak in the roof, for which The Bridge is looking for assistance in mending. Additionally, the charity would greatly appreciate sponsorship for the cups used.
